A friend of me told me once a story he was a witness. He used to be the 1st officer on one Navy ship. Once, during a cruise to manoeuvres he (and everybody in 50 nautical miles) heard the dialog between two units on the channel 106 (alarm channel). It took place on 16.10.1997.
I put in (...) any information that woud make the game easier
A(static heard): This is A-853, we request, change your trajectory 15 degrees South to avoud a collision... You run straight on us, distance 25 nautical miles.
B: (static heard): We suggest you change of course 15 degrees North to avoid a collision.
A: Refuse. We repeat: change your course 15 degrees South to avoid the colision...
B (another voice): This is the captain of the United States Navy Unit. We demand you change your course 15 degrees North to avoid the collision.
A: We do not think it is right or possible to be done. We suggest you to change your course 15 degrees South to avoid the collision with us.
B (a voice of somebody very teed off): This is captain Richard James Howard, the commandor of the United States Navy Unit, the aircraft carrier USS Lincoln, the second greatest in the American armada. We are ecorted by two battleships, six rust buckets, five cruisers, four submarines and plenty of support units. We are on the cruise to the Persian Gulf in order to carry out the manoeuvres with the possibility of Iraqi offensive. I don't suggest... I ORDER YOU TO CHANGE THE COURSE 15 DEGREES NORTH! Otherwise we will have to take the necessary measures to ensure the security to this ship as well as to the forces of the Coalition. You are the allied country (...) and belong to the Coalition. I demand immidiate obedience and getting out of my way!
A: This is (...). There are two of us. We are escorted by our dog. Morover there are here our food, two beers and a cannary that is sleeping at the moment. We are supported by the local radio (...) and the sea alarm channel 106. We do not go anywhere and broadcast from a land, from the lighthouse A-853 (...). We do not have any f... knowledge which place do we take on the (...) lighthouse ranking. You may take any right actions that you want to ensure the security to your f... ship, which is going to crash on rocks any moment. That's why we insist, suggest again that the best, the most right and advisible action is to change the cource 15 degrees South to avoid the collision with us.
